Thelma Joyce Price, 85, of Montpelier passed away on October 5th surrounded by her loving family following a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Joyce was born in Malad, Idaho on July 1, 1938 to J. Clifford and Thelma Jones, the third of four daughters.
While working as a secretary in Salt Lake City, Joyce met her future husband Brent on a blind date. They were later married on September 21, 1963 and moved to Montpelier shortly after that to raise their family of three: Kelly (58, Nampa), Todd (56, Atlanta), and Melanie (53, Meridian). Brent and Joyce celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary shortly prior to her death.
Joyce worked as a secretary at Stauffer Chemical in Montpelier for a number of years, and was a long-time volunteer poll worker for Bear Lake County. An avid golfer into her golden years, she also enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, and eating pepperoni pizza once a week with her good friends. She was a member of the Montpelier 4th Ward.
Proceeded in death by her parents and sister Marilyn, she is survived by her husband Brent, sons Kelly (Crystal) and Todd, and daughter Melanie (Troy Daw); grandsons Karter Price (Jenny), Keaton Price (Christina), Tanner Daw (Matilda) and Jordan Daw; and her six great-grand children Reagan, Kolter, Sawyer, Everley, Boston and Carter.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Symbii hospice services for the wonderful care they provided to our mother in her final weeks of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation (https://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/foundation).
There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Montpelier City Cemetery. A viewing will be held the night before on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Schwab-Matthews Mortuary.
