Kent Parker Stucki

Kent Parker Stucki, born February 6, 1944 in Montpelier, ID to Don W Stucki and Evelyn P Stucki. He passed away at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, ID June 11, 2018. 

Kent married Evelyn Payne on May 6, 1965 and was later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Utah LDS Temple on December 27, 1990.  There were four beautiful children born to this union.

Kent was raised in Paris, ID where he spent most of his time hunting, fishing, racing cars and hanging out with his friends.  He attended Fielding High School in Paris where he broke the school track record for the 100 meter dash.  He graduated in 1962 while being the class president.

In January of 1966, Kent was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served in Vietnam with the 18th Engineer Brigade.  He was honorably discharged and given the Medal of Commendation in 1967. He loved the flag and this country, there wasn't a time where he wouldn't tear up as he proudly stood and saluted our flag.        

After returning home, Kent and Evelyn lived in Paris, ID for 32 years.  Kent worked for Mark's and Mike's Chevron while in high school and later for Coca Cola. He later worked and retired from Monsanto in Soda Springs, Idaho where he was known for his mischievous tricks on his fellow workers.  He loved to make people laugh.

In 1990 Kent suffered his first heart attack.  He fought this condition valiantly for the rest of his life, spending much of his time in many different hospitals where doctors were amazed at his ability to fight for life. They were urged to sell their home and farm in Paris because of health restrictions that made it difficult to maintain such a large property and moved to a smaller home where they were currently living in Montpelier, ID.

Kent and Evelyn enjoyed many years of horse racing with their winning horse, Warrior's Song.  This time was spent with Evelyn's sister Diane and her husband Alan Hubbard, who was the trainer and part owner. Kent, along with his two sisters, were practically raised on a race track where his parents owned, trained, and ran thorough bred race horses as this was part of their livelyhood. They lived in California for two of his high school years by the Santa Anita race track.  He had many great experiences and treasured memories there. Living in California is where the coaches discovered his gift of speed as he ran track.

Kent was an active member of the Church Of Later Day Saints serving in many leadership callings.  He served as a counselor in the bishopric as well as a two year term in the Logan Utah LDS Temple, which he both loved dearly. He was the high priest group leader, and clerk along with numerous other callings. He always loved to spend time in the temple with his beloved wife Evelyn. He briefly served on the Paris City Council and the Paris Lions Club.

Kent loved watching and supporting his grandchildren in all of their various talents and activities.  He could also be seen walking his little dog Harley who he spoiled with numerous treats and love. Kent loved his family dearly and was continually worrying about each and every one of them. There were times he would write letters to those he thought needed a little advice and extra love. Being such a quiet man, he generally kept thoughts to himself but would share his words of wisdom with others when he thought it was needed.

Kent was proceded in death by his parent's, his in-laws James and Leona Payne, 1 brother in-law Richard Stoker, 1 sister in-law Marilyn Payne, 1 grandaughter Ashton Cheri' Maughan and numerous angel babies lost to miscarriage.

Kent is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evelyn P. Stucki of Montpelier, ID that never left his side for 53 years, along with his children Dirk (DeAnn) Stucki of Sharon, ID, Cheri' (Brian) Maughan of Wellsville Utah, Shelly Stucki of Montpelier, ID, and Mandy (Shane) Johnson of Montpelier, ID.  He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren with 1 on the way; two sisters Kathy Stoker of Bloomington ID and Anita Black of Grace, ID and their familes ; his brother in-laws Rex (Sheila) Payne of Montpelier, Gary (Julie) Payne of St. George Utah and sister in-law Diane (Alan) Hubbard of Niter ID, and their families.

Funeral services for Kent will be held in Montpelier at the Montpelier 4th Ward South Stake Building on Friday June 15, 2018 at 11 am.  Viewings will be held Thursday June 14, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at the Schwab-Matthews Mortuary and Friday from 9 to 10:30 am prior to the services. Kent's burial will be in the Paris, Idaho cemetary with full military rights.
