John Carlin Obituary

John W. Carlin a World War II Veteran, lived a long journey to 98.
He was born on April 12, 1919 in Nashville Tennessee. He passed away the morning of April 24, 2017 from a broken heart after losing his wife of 72 years. On December 1, 1942 in Evanston Wyoming he married Irene Thornock. They had 12 children, 7 sons and 5 daughters.

John and Irene have lived in Cheyenne, Memphis, Idaho Falls, Ogden, and Bloomington Idaho. After raising their children the two would travel to Yuma Az. with their little dog Peanut for the winters calling themselves snowbirds.

John and Irene loved to play music together. Irene would play her Omni Chord while John played his guitar. They would sing together for hours. They also enjoyed fishing together. John was very mechanically inclined. He was very talented in restoring old vehicles. One of which is still in the family.

Preceded in death by his wife and four children, John W. Carlin Jr., Wayne C. Carlin, Laureen Caffell, Michell Breckbill.

John is survived by his 8 children, Rick Carlin, Brent(Vicki) Carlin, (Dee)Diane Coles, Janette Nicholes, Barbara(Al) Silliness, Guy Carlin, Doug Carlin and Keith Carlin. He is also survived by over 40 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren.

John will be greatly missed for his whimsical laugh and witty sense of humor. We will all miss listening to all his amazing stories about his journey through this life that he loved to share with all his family.

His family would like to extend our gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Bear Lake Memorial Nursing Facility that took loving care for him. We could not have done this without them!
