Edward Kay Payne

Edward “Ed” Kay Payne, 66, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2025. He was born on July 22, 1959, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity.

Ed is survived by his children, Chelsey (Carlin) Nye, Emily Payne, and Jacob (Ellie) Payne; his beloved grandchildren, Mia, Brielle, and Ryker Nye; his mother Darlene; and his siblings Eric, Kerry, Randy, Ronnie, Marsha, Brenda, and Sharon. He was preceded in death by his father, Aland; his sister Ruth; and many dear friends and family members.

A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ed lived his faith through kindness, service, and an open heart. Known for his love of talking with others, taking long walks, and tending to his plants, Ed brought warmth and humor wherever he went. Stubborn yet endlessly giving, he shared whatever he had with those around him.

Ed’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A viewing will be held August 14th, 6-8pm at Schwab Matthews Mortuary and on August 15th from 9:30- 10:45am at the Paris LDS church. Funeral services will be held August 15th, 11:00am at the Paris LDS church, with interment to follow at Bloomington Cemetery.
