Dallas Charles Painter, 91, passed away on June 19, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Bloomington, Idaho on August 10, 1931, to George Walter Owen and Deltha Suzzana Thornock Painter. He was the youngest of eight children. Dallas attended elementary school in Bloomington and graduated from Fielding High School in Paris. He worked on the family farm with his older brother and father. In 1951, Dallas joined the Navy and served aboard the battleship USS Iowa during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Darlene Monk on New Years Eve, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple, July 26, 1957.
Dallas loved music and played the trumpet, harmonica, and had a good ear for the piano. He was a member of the singing group, Men of the Valley. They performed throughout the Bear Lake valley. He loved singing with the Bloomington Ward Choir, especially during the 4th of July program. Dallas loved the outdoors, camping fishing, swimming in Bear Lake, hikes up to Bloomington Lake. He enjoyed hunting in the fall. Rides up the canyon with Darlene were a wonderful time for him.
Dallas had a fun sense of humor and was always teasing and laughing. People always felt comfortable around him.
Dallas is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many positions in the Bloomington Ward including in the Bishopric. He enjoyed working with the youth and serving others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 7 siblings, his eternal companion Darlene and son, Eugene. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Susan (Laurie) Strebel, Colleen (Bruce) Brown, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 1st, 2023 in the Paris Stake Center. The viewing will be at 12:00 p.m. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Bloomington Cemetery.
