Alysa Saunders Obituary

Alysa Maria Saunders was born May 29, 2007 to Rick and Brittney Saunders in West Jordan, Utah while Rick was teaching school there.  She passed away May 28, 2023 in Salt Lake City, UT while being treated at Primary Children’s hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She is the third child of five children. She is smack dab in the middle of the family and never let them forget it; middle child attitude.  She will be missed by her large family. Her parents: Rick and Brittney Saunders, her siblings: McKenna (Dalton Moss) of Rexburg, ID, Tyler, Trey, and Madie, her grandparents: Rex and Debbie Saunders (Smoot, WY) Shane and Shauna Roberts (Liberty, ID) and 34 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. She always held and loved on every single baby.  She will also be greatly missed by countless friends and community members from all over.

She was the cutest baby with cherubic cheeks. She was happy, but shy, and clung to her mother’s leg for the first three years of her life.  As a young child she brought joy to all those she was around. She loved all the adventures her older siblings drug her around on. She was nervous about starting school, because she didn’t want to leave her mother. After much persuading she attended elementary school in Paris where she met some of her lifelong friends. She attended middle school in Montpelier where her group of friends expanded to include many more.  She had the innate ability to make people know they were special to her. She absolutely loved everyone!  She started dancing at a young age.  She was graceful and elegant and always pushed herself to do her absolute best. She started high school at Bear Lake High in 2020 and immediately expanded her range of interests to include cross country, golf, musicals, social dance and any opportunity she could find to hang out with her friends. She finally got her driver’s license and loved the freedom of driving herself and her friends’ places.  It didn’t matter where!

She was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 13, 2015 by her father.  She cherished her membership in the church.  She loved to study the scriptures and enjoyed the peace that studying brought her. The testimony she gained in her short life was powerful.  She knows her Savior, Jesus Christ.

As members of her family, we have always felt of her strength and love.  We could see the light that she radiated to the world.  We were so blessed that she chose to bless our lives with her light and love.  It has been so comforting to hear from all those who knew Ali that they saw and felt of that light as well.  She was an angel in this life and now continues to watch over us as an eternal angel.

Funeral services for Ali will be held on Tuesday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the Paris Tabernacle with a viewing prior to the services from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m.  There will also be a viewing the night before on Monday, June 5th in the Liberty LDS Church from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
