Zina
Wallentine
May 13, 2018
Zina Wallentine Paris, Idaho
On Sunday, May 13, 2018, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and faithful friend, Zina Wallentine, slipped away quietly to be with her Heavenly Father. She was 86 years old.
Zina was born June 4, 1931 to Leo and Fern Humphreys Wallentine. She was the third of four girls born to this union.
Zina graduated from Fielding High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Russell, on November 12, 1949. They made a great team running the family farm and raising animals of every description. They also did a great job raising their two children, Steven and Lana. They instilled a great work ethic, the importance of an education, and to respect everyone.
Zina always worked outside the home and farm as well. She worked as a store clerk at Pugmire's Service Station, was a housekeeper and care-giver to three Parker children after the death of their father. She also worked at Caribou Title Company for 14 years and developed a complete chain of titles for every tract of land in Bear Lake County.
Zina somehow made time for all kinds of handwork including beautiful quilts, crocheted afghans, doilies, scarves, hangers, dish towels, dishcloths, dolls, knitted sweaters and the list goes on and on. Zina was also famous for her raspberries. The beautiful patch of thimbleberries produced for over 40 years. In 1989, Zina decided to become an artist. She was completely self-taught with the exception of a couple of classes taught by local artists. She probably painted over 1,000 pictures which are circulating locally and far and wide as well.
Zina continued to help Steven run the family farm after Russell's death in 2004 until her passing.
Zina loved her four grandchildren and every birthday was celebrated. Christmas was the event of the year. Each grandchild sat down and opened gift after gift from the giant black garbage liners bearing their name.
Zina had ten great-grandchildren and she kept track of every birthday by sending a card with something for their piggy banks enclosed.
Zina was a friend to all and all received at least one of her creations over the years.
.Zina is survived by her son, Steven, her daughter, Lana, her sister Jeanine, four grandchildren and ten great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Russell, and her sisters, Shirley and Nondas.
Mom, your passing has left a space that can never be filled. We will love and miss you until we are together again.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 25th at 11:00 AM at the Paris City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier.
The family would like to thank the Drs. and staff associated with Bear Lake Memorial Hospital for their dedicated care and compassion for our loved one.
