Teri Hicks

Teri Ann (Smiley) Hicks died March 24, 2011 at her home in Bedford.

Teri was born July 30, 1947 in Bemidji, Minn. She was a Washington resident for 55 years, graduating from Central Kitspap High School in 1966. Teri worked in Seattle for a short time where she trained as a radiology technician before moving back to her hometown of Bremerton, working at the Bremerton Clinic and eventually retiring after many years with Olympic Anesthesia.

For the last several years, Teri has resided in Wyoming to be close to her grandchildren, which were her pride and joy! She was active as a volunteer and tutor for the elementary school in Wyoming until the day she died.

Teri always gave 150 percent to whatever task or passion she would take on. Her intelligence, iron will, and caring spirit will be missed.

She is survived by her son, Warren Hicks and his wife Allison, granddaughter Hunter and grandsons Tristian and Grayson all of Afton; her mother, Dorothy Smiley of Bremerton; brother Ross Smiley and wife Mary Ann of San Francisco, California; sister Linda Grady of Lynnwood, Washington; brother Chuck Smiley and his wife Carol of Silverdale, Washington; and four nieces and four nephews.

Her father, Elwood Smiley preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held in Bremerton, Washington on April 9, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the arthritis foundation at arthritis.org or the Afton Elementary School.
