Ted A Sleight passed away peacefully at the age of 68, surrounded by his sons and family, on August 5, 2026.

Ted was born in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Mary and Loyd Sleight, the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Gayla Finkey, and is survived by his older brothers, Howard and Don Sleight.

Ted was raised in the community of Georgetown, Idaho. He held a deep affection for his home community, where he built many lifelong friendships and relationships during his youth.

Ted enrolled at BYU after graduating high school. After completing one year of study, Ted was called to serve a mission in South Africa, where he spoke Afrikaans. Upon returning home, Ted completed his degree in Accounting at BYU, drawing on a keenly analytical mind that would carry him through both his academic and professional life.

Ted’s career led him to work as a CPA in Texas, where he met his beloved wife, Maralee. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 19, 1987. They resided in Midland, Texas, before relocating to Sacramento, California, where their first two sons, Loyd and Sterling, were born in 1992 and 1994, respectively. After relocating to Boise, Idaho, their third son, Aaron, was born in 1995. In 2000, Ted and Maralee established their permanent home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where they raised their family for 21 years.

Over the course of his career, Ted became a successful accountant and senior financial leader at various healthcare companies. He cultivated many meaningful relationships with those he worked with, and he left a lasting impact on the organizations he served.

Ted cherished his sons and was a steadfast presence in supporting them in all they did. He attended every school event and was heavily involved in his sons’ lives, taking particular joy in watching them compete in sporting events.

In 2021, Ted and Maralee retired to Ted’s childhood home in Georgetown, Idaho. Ted took great joy in his return to the community of his youth, where he participated enthusiastically in the church choir and in teaching church classes.

With the birth of Charlie Sleight in 2021, Ted became a grandfather and welcomed three beloved grandchildren into his life. Ted took immense pride in his role as a grandfather, often sharing pictures of his grandchildren with anyone who showed interest. Every grandchild cherished a scooter ride with their grandfather.

Ted was a hard worker in everything that he did, leaving a lasting legacy of persistence and diligence. He lovingly cared for his aging mother and many other family members over the years. Ted touched the lives of countless friends, family, and neighbors, always willing to help those in need.

Ted is survived by his wife, Maralee, his sons Loyd (Cali), Sterling (Abby), and Aaron, as well as three grandchildren, Charlie, Sylvie, and Kylo.

Viewing: A viewing will be held at the chapel at 124 Stringtown Rd, Georgetown, ID 83239, from 10 AM to noon on Saturday, August 15.

Funeral: Funeral services will be at the chapel at 124 Stringtown Rd, Georgetown, ID 83239, on Saturday, August 15, at noon.

Graveside: Graveside services will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery.
