Tami Kunz's Obituary

On February 27, 2025, Tami passed away peacefully at her home. We take comfort in knowing that she was in a place she loved, surrounded by the memories and warmth of the home she built.

Tami was born November 1, 1950, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Hugh Callahan Williams and Elizabeth Lindsay Williams. As the youngest of thirteen children, she grew up surrounded by family, love, and a deep sense of connection. She spent her summers in Bennington in the Bear Lake Valley with her grandparents, where she cultivated a love for nature, tradition, and family bonds that would shape her life.

In January 1970, Tami met the love of her life, Jimmy Reed Kunz, in Bern, Idaho. Their connection was unexpected, and just a few months later, on July 10, 1970, they were married in the Logan Temple. Together, they built a life full of love, faith, and devotion to family. They were partners in every sense of the word, supporting one another through life's joys and challenges.

Music was a lifelong passion for Tami. She was a dedicated pianist, a gifted singer, and a talented musician who played the clarinet, guitar, violin, and piano. Music brought her joy, and she shared that joy with those around her, whether through playing, singing, or simply appreciating the beauty of a well-played melody. After her husband, Jimmy, passed away in August 2005, she continued to share her love of music by playing the piano for the school district, enriching the lives of many students with her talent and dedication.

In addition to her musical contributions, Tami also worked at the hospital, demonstrating her compassionate and caring nature in another meaningful way. Whether through music or service, she was always giving of herself to help others.

Tami was a woman of intellect and community spirit. She enjoyed participating in a women's book club and attending social gatherings, always engaging with those around her with warmth and kindness. Many in the community knew her as a welcoming presence, someone who truly enjoyed being around others, gathering with friends and loved ones, making people feel comfortable and at home in her presence.

For 32 years, Tami found joy in her work as a school bus driver. It wasn't just a job to her—it was a calling. She loved the children she transported each day, offering them not just a safe ride but also a warm smile, a kind word, and a reassuring presence. Her dedication and care left an imprint on countless young lives, a testament to her nurturing and generous heart.

But beyond her work and passions, Tami's greatest joy was her family. She was the steady anchor, the gentle guide, and the loving mother who always put her children first. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Reed Kunz, and seven of her siblings whom she cherished deeply. Though she has now joined them in eternal peace, she leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her six children—Thad and Karin Kunz, Terry Kunz, Joachim and Nikol Torkornoo, Tyson and Lyndsie Kunz, Bryant and Jodi Kitchen, and Sandeep and Joye Mundlapati—and 18 grandkids, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit in their hearts.

Tami was a woman who found joy in the simple things—perhaps it was a quiet conversation with a loved one, a well-told story, or the laughter of children. She had a way of making everyone feel at home, of turning ordinary moments into treasured memories.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, wisdom, and kindness will live on in each of us. We will carry her lessons, her warmth, and her unwavering spirit forward, ensuring that her legacy continues for generations to come.

Today, as we say goodbye, let us not dwell in sorrow but instead honor Tami's life by embracing the love she gave so freely. Let us support one another, cherish the moments we have, and live with the same kindness and generosity that she showed us every day.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your love will forever guide us.
