Bob Roberts
Robert "Bob" Roberts, age 77, 0f Etna, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 in the Idaho Falls Hospital due to a head injury.
Bob was born on Sept. 17, 1933 in Etna to Sylvester and Vera Roberts. He was the youngest of seven children.
He grew up in Etna on the family farm. After serving an LDS Mission to Southern California he met Martha Tidwell in Salt Lake City in 1958 and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 12, 1959.
He attended the University of Wyoming before returning to Star Valley to take over the family farm. He loved farming and ran the farm along with selling Insurance full time. He sold for Beneficial life and other companies for over 36 years before retiring.
Bob and Martha were married for 52 years and were blessed with four children: Cynthia Spence; Robert Roberts, jr.; Mary Walker and John Roberts. He was a loving husband and father. They have 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and he was very proud of them and loved spending time with them.
Bob loved Star Valley and Martha had a hard time getting him to ever leave, even for a vacation. When he did leave it didn't take him very long until he was ready to come back to his home in the valley.
Bob loved his computer, working genealogy, reading, gardening, yard work and he had a beautiful lawn to show for it.
Bob served on the school board from 1978 until 1985. He enjoyed serving and made many new friends. He was active in the LDS Church and had numerous callings. He served in the bishopric for 15 years.
Bob loved to visiting and meeting new people and he was a friend to everyone he met. He was fun loving person and loved to tease others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his kindness, teasing, and ready smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maratha and his four children and their spouses, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Merrill and many nieces and nephews.
