Richard Christian Sorenson
Richard Christian Sorenson or Papa as his grandchildren knew him by, passed away at the age of 78 at his home in Saratoga Springs, Utah on June 11th 2017. He is survived by his loving wife Dixie Reese Sorenson, and son Don Sorenson (Deb Sorenson), his Daughter Debra Sorenson Miles (Reagan Miles) and his 8 grandchildren-Jeff (Karen), Natalie (Levin), Ryan (Britni), Scott (Sara), Stephanie (Bryan), Tiffany (Sean), Nickolas, and Elizabeth, as well as 7 great grandchildren.
He was born in Mayfield Utah on April 1st 1939 to Berdell and Bernice Sorenson, one of ten children. He is survived by his brothers Vernon (Susan), Floyd (Carol), and sisters Arlene, and Carolyn. In his early years he worked as a Ranch Hand herding cattle and sheep and developed a great love for the outdoors, and country life.
Papa was a real life stoic cowboy and a member of the Mounted Sheriff's posse, where he took an active part of search and rescue on horseback, in service to his community. He had a great love for his beautiful wife Dixie, and enjoyed spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren. He was a shining, happy, influence to all that knew him. He also had an enthusiastic passion for horses and was an expert in riding, raising, and training them, and shared that love throughout his life with his family.
He was a devout and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was sealed in the temple to his wife and children for time and all eternity. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to people in need, and worked hard for his family throughout his entire life. He has been a constant source of strength and happiness to his family and friends and will be greatly missed, loved and remembered always.
