Pauline (Black)
Tolbert
June 14, 1944 – December 18, 2025
Pauline Black Tolbert, age 81, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025. She was surrounded by her sweetheart of 63 years and her six children.
Pauline was born on June 14, 1944, in Delta, Utah, to Lucian Paul and Deona Church Black. She was the fifth of seven children. She had three older sisters: Cheryl Roper (Grayson) both deceased, Dorothy Teichert (John – deceased), and Lorene Wilhelm (Al) (Phil Smith – deceased). She also had three brothers: Stanley (Betty) both deceased, Phillip (Cheryl), and John (Sondra) (Jolynn – deceased).
Pauline attended all of her formative schooling years in Delta. It was there that she met the love of her life, Keith Tolbert, while in high school. Pauline and Keith were married on April 2, 1962. They made their first home in Delta, where Pauline was a homemaker and Keith worked full time.
Keith's work took their family to several states, including California and New Mexico, before they returned to Utah and eventually settled for good in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley, where they raised their six children: Cindy Hansen (Bret) of Paris, Idaho; Kevin Tolbert (Kari) of Buhl, Idaho; Karalee Voegeli (Eric) of Bradenton, Florida; Mary Cooper (Stan) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Bryan Tolbert (DeOnn) of Franklin, Idaho; and Greg Tolbert (Toni) of Mendon, Utah. Pauline and Keith were blessed with 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pauline loved the Lord and served faithfully in many church callings. Primary music was her favorite. She loved to sing and especially loved teaching children—particularly her own children—to sing. She and Keith also served together in the Bishop's Storehouse and in the 12-step program, where they loved and served everyone they met.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother; as well as by Keith's parents, seven brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.
Pauline's life was a quiet testimony of faith, service, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion to family, and unwavering compassion that will continue to bless the lives of those who knew her.
