Paul Christopher Illum 50, of Brigham City, Utah

Paul was born on October 29th, 1973 in Provo, Utah to Douglas and Maureen Illum, the second in a family of seven children. He was especially close to his older brother Mark. When Paul was young, the family moved to Idaho Falls, where Paul and his siblings would grow up. He attended Ethel Boys Elementary, Eagle Rock Junior High and Skyline High School. Later he went on to graduate from Idaho State University with his Bachelors in Microbiology and a Masters Degree in Chemistry. His career then took him to Brigham City, Utah where he would work as a chemist and rocket scientist for 20 years and raise his children alongside his wife, Jill Illum. In Brigham City, he became an integral scientist at work and made many close friends throughout his years there.

Paul loved to ride motorcycles and go camping with family. He grew up riding with his brothers and sisters, and in his adult life he thoroughly enjoyed teaching his own kids to ride. They spent many, many weekends with extended family at his land in Caribou County Idaho riding, hiking, playing games, and laughing. Paul was particularly fond of building enormous campfires. Paul took his family on many summer vacations, hikes, and visits to national parks. He absolutely adored his grandson, Bennett, and played with him for hours.

Paul is survived by his wife, Jill; his son, Karsten; two daughters, Katelynn and Allison, and his son-in-law Loys; his grandson Bennett; parents Doug and Maureen Illum, his siblings Mark (Cheri), Erik, and Maren (Joe) and countless other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara and Marty, his brother Nathan, his nephew Jacob and his grandparents Elmer and Wilda Illum, Isaac and Lenna Bowler.

A celebration of life will be held on June 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 25 N 300 E in Brigham City, Utah.  Burial will follow in the Lund Cemetery in Caribou County, ID at 3:15 p.m.
