Patricia E. Lyon's Obituary

Patricia E. Lyon, 77, a resident of Ovid, ID, passed from this life on Friday, June 15, 2018 in her home. Her life began on March 3, 1941 in Ohio when she was born to the late Theodore and Elizabeth Adams.

Patricia was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and eventually settled in Bennington, ID. She graduated at the top of her high school class with a four-year scholarship to Hyrum College in Ohio, where she received her CPA. She later moved to Florida, where she started a successful accounting business and began raising her three children.

After 12 years in Florida, the family moved to Swan Valley, ID, where she became the Postmaster of the Irwin Post Office, having a positive effect on the community providing her personalized touch with a warm, caring face and décor that made it feel at home. At Christmas time, Pat would dress as Mrs. Claus and fill the post office with Christmas decorations, home baked goodies and presents, filling children's hearts with joy. Her hard work and kindness earned her Postmaster of the year for the state of Idaho in 1998. Patricia took great pride in herself and everything she did, whether she was serving her community, her church or the U.S. Postal Service. She was known to be a Joyful and a dependable person.

She served two years as city clerk and treasurer in Irwin; worked for the Booneville County Ambulance Advisory Board.

She later moved to Colorado Springs, where she worked as the Postmaster for the Yoder, CO Post Office. While there, she once again, received the Postmaster of the Year for the state of Colorado in 2003. Patricia continued her yearly role as Mrs. Claus at the post office, churches and community events.

In 2004 Patricia retired and moved to Bennington where after a few months, felt the need to go back to work where she deejayed for KVSI for a year and then began working in the office at The News-Examiner and later began working at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital counseling office as a secretary. (So much for Retirement). In her spare time, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Montpelier Lion's Club, where she also served as past president; a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Bennington and worked for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

IN 2013, Patricia donated her 1967 Volkswagen to the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital to be raffled in hopes to earn money for the hospital's expansion. In an effort to continue to Help Bear Lake Memorial Hospital she volunteered for the hospital auxiliary for several years, bringing organization, calmness and touching the lives of many. She received many certificates of appreciation and awards for her service to the hospital.

Patricia leaves behind her husband, Melvin Lyon; step-son, Brian Lyon; step-granddaughter, Tiffany Kvisht; step-great granddaughter, Payton Kvisht; two sons, Duane A. and David B. (wife, Dawn) Crone; brother, Robert C. Adams; sisters, Diane Adams and Lorraine Warren; two grandchildren, Lyviair R. Losh (husband, Jeff), Beau B. Crone and one great grandson, Greye A. Losh

She was preceded in death by her parents; late husband, Noel "Nat" Talcott and her daughter, Jeanette "Gina" Cain.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 20,2018 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bennington Ward in Bennington, ID. A service celebrating Patricia' s life will begin at 2:00 pm at the church on Wednesday. Burial to follow at Bennington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Patricia's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Schwab-Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier has been entrusted with arrangements.
