Michael Roberts
Michael Roberts of Alpine passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. John's Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Afton on April 12, 1976 to James S. and Leslie Roberts. He was the second of five siblings.
Michael grew up in Etna, attending school at Metcalf Elementary and Star Valley High School. He loved working with family and worked in a family masonry business while in High School. He also participated in football and wrestling at SVHS. Michael attended Ricks College on a wrestling scholarship.
Michael was called to an LDS mission in Bangalore, India. His missionary experiences took him first to Boston, Mass., while he waited for his international visa, and then to India. After a few months in India, the mission was closed down and he served the remainder of his time in Portland, Ore.
After his mission, Michael returned to Ricks College, where he had met Melenchi "Micki" Quintanilla before his mission. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Dec. 20, 1997.

They finished up their year at Ricks and transferred to the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. Still on his wrestling scholarship. Michael worked in construction management while in school.
Four children joined Michael and Micki's family; Naila in 1998, Cliel in 2001, Gabriel in 2004 and James in 2008.
Michael had learned to love service on his mission, and he continued to practice service on a daily basis to those around him who were in need. He gave freely of his time and resources to those whom he could help. He was also available to assist with family responsibilities. His brothers and father work in the oil field, and Michael spent a lot of time assisting with wood, snow and other concerns while they were out of town.
Michael loved his family. His wife and children are the greatest treasure that he obtained on this earth. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Melenchi "Micki" Roberts; children, Naila, Gliel, Gabriel and James.
Also surviving are his parents, James S. and Leslie A. Roberts, of Etna; Brother James C. (Sharri) Roberts and family of Etna; sister, Chandra (Hans) Nelson of Etna; brother Rory D. (Erin) Roberts, of Denver; and sister April M. Roberts, of Etna.
