Maybell Burton
Maybell Hoopes Burton passed away on Jan 9, 2011 in Logan Utah. She lived to be 93 years old.
Maybell was born Nov. 18, 1917 in Fairview to William Riley Hoopes and Luella Harmon. She had an older sister Hazel and an older brother, Vearl.
Eleven Months after Maybell's birth, her mother died and Della Rigby became her second mother. Younger brothers and sisters were born and they include Melvin Hoopes, Lenore Clark, Frank Hoopes, Lowell Hoopes, Lillian Eppich and Jual Mcintosh.
In her formative years Maybell learned hard work and cooperation on the family farm, the value of thrift and good management during the depression years, and strength and determination by overcoming ongoing trials of daily living.
Maybell married Lawrence Van Orden Burton on May 14, 1942 in Logan LDS Temple and they celebrated 64 years of marriage together.
They were blessed with eight children DeVere (Arva) of Twin Falls, Idaho; David (Faye) of Millville Utah; Francis (Jan) Turner of Morgan, Utah; Edith (Cal) Hardman of West Jordan, Utah; Jed (Elizabeth) of Burton, Idaho; Verda (Steve) Miller of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Donna (Bruce) Christiansen of Riverton, Utah; and Kent of Logan, Utah.
The family lived in Auburn and Fairview until moving to Millville, Utah in 1959.
Maybell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and was part of the Millville First Ward where she served faithfully in each calling she received. She especially enjoyed going visiting teaching and doing temple work. In 2007, Maybell became part of the sunshine terrace Branch. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers affiliated with the Lusannah G. Hovey Camp.
Maybell's posterity includes eight children, 51 grandchildren and 123 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, one brother, one granddaughter and three great grandchildren.
