Matthew Mark Wilson, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026.
Matthew was born on December 21, 1976, in Logan, Utah, to Mark Franklin Wilson and Marcia (Ward) Wilson. He was the oldest of four brothers—Martin, Max, and McKay—and spent his early years in Bancroft, Idaho, before the family settled in Bloomington, Idaho, where he grew up.
Matthew earned a master's degree in geology and spent many years pursuing work that combined his curiosity, intelligence, and love of the outdoors. Throughout his career, he worked with the U.S. Forest Service and several private-sector companies. Later, he turned his lifelong passion for woodworking into a successful carpentry business, creating pieces that reflected both craftsmanship and artistry.
Those who knew Matt will remember his curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for life. He loved the outdoors and could often be found exploring the mountains, foraging for mushrooms, herbs, and native plants, or spending an evening beneath the stars. He enjoyed sharing good food, discovering new experiences, and expressing his individuality through his personal style.
Matthew had a lifelong love of theater, whether performing on stage, working behind the scenes, or helping build sets. That creative spirit extended into family life, where themed costumes for fairs, holidays, festivals, and special events became a cherished tradition. He made friends easily, valued community, and was always willing to lend a hand. Whether building, repairing, creating, or simply spending time with those he cared about, Matthew approached life with imagination and heart, whose presence will be deeply missed.
Matthew is survived by his beloved wife, Joslyn Fitzgerald Wilson, and the blended family they shared: Grace Katherine, Gabriel Mark, Gavin Thomas, Emma Hope, Rai Gretta Miriam, Aspen Joy, and Pheby Ann. He is also survived by his parents, Mark and Marcia Wilson, and his brothers, Martin, Max, and McKay.
