Lorena Mattson
March 16, 2015
Lorie (Ruth Lorena) Mattson age 70 passed away at her youngest daughter Crystal's home in Spring Creek Nevada on March 16th, 2015.
Lorie was born the youngest of seven children on June 26th, 1944 to Ruth and Lorenzo Hemmert of St. Charles, Idaho. Her older siblings were: Virginia (Bateman), Anita (Markham), Dwight, Dora May (Mower), William, & Hervin. Lorie was adored and doted upon by her family.

The couple purchased Mattson Machinery, the John Deere dealership in Montpelier Idaho, from Terrance's father Eldon, early in their marriage. They developed close ties to the community. Lorie was known locally as the 'parts lady'. As years progressed, they built their dream home upon Jericho hill outside of St. Charles, where they raised their children until relocating to Nevada in 1987.
Lorie loved working, and she loved people. She found her calling in running her parent's business the Bear Lake Hot Springs located on the east side of Bear Lake. Many recall seeing "the pretty little blonde lady with a big pistol strapped to her side walking the grounds or cooking her famous burgers in the kitchen". She was a friendly outgoing soul who was known to be a friend to all. She lived by her motto of "telling it like it is" Her son John said "Mom could walk into a new town and within 20 minutes have made a new best friend whereas it would have taken me 5 years to make one". Lorie lived her life fully, always ready and willing to take on a challenge. Her strength of character, and her humor were well known among family and friends. Lorie loved the outdoors, from fishing to snowmobiling and everything in between. Spending time with family meant everything to Lorie. Whether it was watching old movies together or playing marathon championship games of scrabble, she loved every minute of it.
