Karyn Hoopes
Karyn Walker Hoopes passed away Feb. 21, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family after a fearless battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 27, 1948 in Boise, Idaho to Wendell and Beth Walker. She attended school in Weiser, Idaho and graduated from Cedar City High School in Utah and then attended Brigham Young University where she met and married Bill Hoopes in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 25, 1968.
Karyn loved spending time with her family and friends, whether it was traveling or attending family events and reunions. She enjoyed working to become the best mother to her children, the best grandmother to her grandchildren, and the best friend to whoever she met.
Karyn never met a stranger- once you knew her you were welcome in her home any time and she would bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. She also enjoyed reading, history and gardening.
She was honored to serve the community through her days as a substitute teacher and years as a school board member for LCSD No. 2. She enjoyed working as a salesperson and manager for Phone Directories Company. She also found great joy from serving her fellow members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her many friends of other faiths, especially youth.
Karyn is survived by her husband, Bill; her children: Amber (Terry) Crook; Jason (Lisa) ; Ashlee (Mathew) Clegg; Kyle (Carisa); Blake (Kelli) ; Jaxon (Brooke); 24 grandchildren, her mother, Beth Walker, three brothers, and eight sisters. She is preceded in death by her father Wendell, and her brother Carvel.
Funeral Services were held on February 24, 2011 and she was laid to rest in the Afton Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the countless people who have shared their love for Karyn through visits, flowers, food and other gifts.
