February 25, 1936 – January 28, 2026
Karen Passey Skinner, 89, our loving mother, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital on January 28th, 2026. Karen was born to William Warren Passey and Margaret Beryl Caldwell Passey in Lanark Idaho on February 25th, 1936. She was the second of five children Lawrence Keith Passey, Jeanette Payne, Julia Ann Howell, and Craig Warren Passey.
Karen married Garald L Skinner on September 12th, 1955, in the Logan Temple. They lived In Logan until Garald finished College in 1957 and then moved to Nounan, ID where they lived until 1991 when they moved to Montpelier, ID
They had four children Michelle (David), Higley, Russell (Cheryl Daniels), Skinner, Melanie (Danny Smith), and Stephanie Jo (John) Carstensen.
Karen graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Id and then enrolled in Steven Henniger's Business College where she obtained an Associate's degree as an Executive Secretary,
Karen was known for her loving service to others. She quickly would get the job done in an effective and organized manner no matter what it was. She also liked to cook for others. One of Karen's favorite activities was to look through cookbooks and then try a new recipe,
Karen was a devoted member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She received her first Temple recommend when she was eleven years old. She was called as a Relief Society president as well as several other positions through her life where she served faithfully.
Karen and Garald worked together on the Ranch. In 1984 Karen and Garald became EMT's with the Bear Lake County Ambulance Service. In 1987 they became real estate agents and worked for Garald's sister at Julian Real Estate until 2002. She and Garald served in the Logan Temple for ten years. In 2002 Karen and Garald served an 18-month Family History Mission in Salt Lake City.
She is survived by her three daughters, Michelle, Melanie and Stephanie, her siblings Janette, Julie and Craig as well as Daughter-in-law Cheryl Daniels. She has 13 grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren, Many Great-grandchildren and their spouses and Great-great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Garald L Skinner, her son Russell Skinner, her parents, and her brother Lawrence Keith Passey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bear Lake Memorial Manor and Hospital for their devoted and caring care they gave our mother. As well as Peter Crane and his staff.
There will be a viewing on Monday February 2nd, in the Montpelier South Stake Center at 10:00-11:45 and the funeral at 12:00. The interment will follow in Montpelier City Cemetery.
