Josephine Stucki Pugmire's Obituary

Josephine Stucki Pugmire, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday July 18, 2015 in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children.

Josephine was born July 25, 1923 in Paris, Idaho to William B. and Millie Ludlum Stucki. Mom grew up on the family farm in Paris, Idaho and graduated from Fielding High School.

Upon graduation Mom worked as a receptionist for Dr. Spencer H. Rich who delivered her four children.

On September 15, 1943 she and her sweetheart, Louis Matthew Pugmire were married in the Salt Lake Temple.

During the following 22 years, she was the heart and the homemaker of their home in St. Charles. In 1965 the family moved to Soda Springs. With the children growing older, Mom worked in the banking industry until she and Dad retired in 1988. They loved to travel and spent their winters in St. George until Dad passed in 2000. Mom then made St. George her permanent home.

Mom served as president of the YWMIA, counselor in the Primary, teacher in the Sunday School, Relief Society, and Primary, and also Stake YWMIA.

She is survived by four children: Rexine (James) Mattson, Paris, Idaho; RaeLynne Taylor, Clinton, Utah; Alan (Peggy) Pugmire, St. Charles, Idaho; and Kim (JaLayne) Pugmire, Yorba Linda, California; 17 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; and one brother, Keith Stucki, Bradbury, California.

Her husband, Louis Pugmire, two sisters, and six brothers, preceded her in death.

Mom loved the family, never missing, remembering a birthday or special event. She loved to retell the many memories of her childhood, and particularly of her grandmother, Sarah Ann Oakey, who crossed the plains in the Willie Handcart Company of 1856 and was rescued by Mormon relief parties in the highlands of Wyoming. She wanted that legacy to be a rich part of her posterity.
