In Loving Memory of Joseph D. Morrison Jr.

It is with both deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Joseph D. Morrison Jr., who passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at the age of 78.

Joe was born on April 10, 1948, in Preston, Idaho, to Joseph Dilworth Morrison and Etta LaRue Snyder Morrison. Raised in Franklin, Idaho, he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. Whether he was farming, working horses, hunting, or camping, he found peace and purpose in nature and cherished the simple joys it offered.

Joe dedicated more than 30 years to his career as a welder at Monsanto/Mark III, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, dependability, and the friendships he built over the years. His coworkers affectionately called him "Gorilla," a nickname earned because of his remarkable strength. It was a name spoken with respect and affection by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Like many veterans, he carried the lasting effects of his service throughout his life. The challenges he faced were significant, yet they became a testament to his resilience, determination, and quiet strength as he continued to move forward with courage and perseverance.

Above all else, Joe treasured his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose love, encouragement, generosity, and steady presence blessed the lives of those around him. He found great joy in spending time with those he loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Joe is lovingly remembered by his children: Michael (Becky) Morrison, Rebecca Morrison, Larry (Kerri) Morrison, and Kim Morrison; his siblings: Tonna Rue Rawlins, Evelyn (Larry) Young, Greg (JoBeth) Morrison, Brent (Jamie) Morrison, Melvin (Kristen) Morrison, Betty (Charlie) Gentry, Sherry (Curtis) Pitcher, and Beth Anne (Trini) Creger; his many grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dilworth Morrison and Etta LaRue Morrison, his sister, Barbara Goodsell, a nephew Adam Goodsell and Brother in law Dell Rawlins.

Those who knew Joe will remember his kindness, humor, generosity, compassion, unwavering work ethic, and willingness to serve others. Whether you knew him as "Gorilla" on the job, "GI Joe" among his siblings, Dad, Grandpa, or simply as a loyal friend, his life was marked by quiet strength, resilience, and a heart that was always willing to help others. Through his example of hard work, perseverance, and love for others, he leaves behind a lasting impact that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on August 8, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Franklin, Idaho LDS Church, with interment to follow at the Franklin Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.

Though he will be deeply missed, Joe's love will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
