Jeffrey Warren Wright was born June 15, 1955, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Warren Gilbert Wright and Donna Jean Bowen. He grew up in Montpelier and graduated from Bear Lake High School with the Class of 1973.

Jeff was a gifted athlete and excelled in football, baseball, basketball, and golf during his school years. He was also an avid outdoorsman and hunter from a young age. At just 16 years old, he harvested an impressive six-point elk, beginning a lifelong appreciation for hunting and the outdoors.

Following high school, Jeff served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England, Leeds from 1974 to 1976. After returning home, he married his sweetheart, Sandra Peterson of Ovid, Idaho. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on September 17, 1976. Together, they welcomed six children: Katie Marie, Jeremy Scott, Jenny Lee, Kassie Dawn, Dustin Jeffrey, and Devan Warren.

Early in their marriage, Jeff ran a Wonder Bread route from Montpelier to Star Valley, becoming affectionately known as “Jeff the Bread Man.” With aspirations for a new career, he studied diligently to pass the Series 7 examination and became a talented financial advisor. In 1991, he moved his family to Boise, Idaho, where he built a successful practice helping others manage money and plan for their financial futures. His hard work and dedication allowed him to retire at the age of 55.

Jeff believed strongly in education and continually encouraged his family to pursue it. He practiced what he preached, earning his master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Cumbria in 2016, an accomplishment of which he was very proud.

Following retirement, Jeff and Sandra dedicated many years to missionary service. Together, they served three missions: Hawaii from 2008 to 2009, the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2012 to 2014, and Hong Kong from 2018 to 2020. They found great joy in serving the Lord together and cherished the many friendships they made throughout the world. At his passing, he was currently serving a service mission for BYU Pathways.

Of all Jeff’s talents, music was perhaps one of his greatest gifts. He began playing guitar at a young age and continued throughout his life. For many years, he performed at the Bear Lake County Fair, but some of his most meaningful performances were much closer to home. His guitar was rarely far away, and he loved playing and singing for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Music was more than a hobby to Jeff; it was part of who he was, and his family will forever remember the sound of him playing his guitar and singing to those he loved.

Jeff lived a full life marked by faith, family, hard work, service, music, and a love of the outdoors. His greatest legacy is found in the family he and Sandra built together and in the values he passed on to the generations that followed.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra; his six children and their spouses, Katie Marie (Shane), Jeremy Scott (Jill), Jenny Lee (Phil), Kassie Dawn (Jeremiah), Dustin Jeffrey, and Devan Warren (Cabrina); 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Steve, Glen, Greg, Paul and Scott; sisters Charlotte and Janice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Donna Wright, and his in-laws, LaThair and Ina Peterson and brother-in-law Michael L. Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at noon at the Montpelier Idaho Stake Center, 340 North 6th Street, Montpelier, Idaho. A public viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Jeff will be deeply missed, but the music, memories, faith, and love he shared will live on through the generations of his family.
