Jean Stock Hawkins's Obituary

Jean Stock Hawkins

June 7th, 1930 ~ February 10th, 2017

In memory of Jean Stock Hawkins, age 86, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Jean was born in Ogden, Utah June 7, 1930. Jean was married to Spencer James Hawkins on June 3, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married 65 years and loved one another unconditionally. This love was shared with the world they created around them. Jean influenced so many lives, directly as well as through her children, friends, and family who carry on her legacy forward in spirit. Jean graduated from BYU and received an Elementary Education Degree. She was not just a teacher in the classrooms, she was a teacher in every aspect of her life; sharing her smile and virtues with all she met. Through example, she taught tolerance, patience, and ability to see the good in all people and situations. Jean enjoyed travel. She served a Mission in Florida in 2001 with her husband. She brought many with her to the family home in Bear Lake for water skiing, sailing, swimming, and picking raspberries. She enjoyed square dancing with her beloved Spencer and friends. Jean brought so many people together through music. She was the pianist at the 18th Ward in Holladay for many years, spent countless hours at a home for those with special needs, and brought many into her own house, to give lessons. In the final hours of her life, she was still able to whisper as those sang around her; "You are my Sunshine". Jean loved her family. She gathered them together at any opportunity and never hesitated to open the door to the stragglers who came with them.

Jean is survived by her children James Hawkins (Garden City), Dee Hawkins (Holladay), John (Nancy) Hawkins (Fish Haven), Krista (Joe) Snow (Sandy). Siblings; Janis, Karen, Glenda, Robert, and other family and friends. Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband Spencer, children Michael, Patricia, Kim, grandson Travis Hawkins, parents Louise and Glen Stock, and her brother Bruce David Stock.
