Jay R. Hymas's Obituary

Jay R. Hymas, 82, passed away on June 2, 2017 due to complications after surgery at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. He was born February 28, 1935 to Ivan Hymas and Della Jenkins Hymas in Liberty, ID. He grew up in Liberty attending Emerson Elementary School and Fielding High School in Paris, ID. Jay worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a signalman for 45 years.

He met his future wife Nadine Johnson at Bear Lake in 1955. They were married May 31, 1951 in North Logan, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on March 4, 1960. Jays work with the railroad moved the family to many different places. Each of their three children were born in a different state. His final job transfer brought the family to Inkom, Idaho where he resided until retirement. After retirement, he and Nadine moved back to his hometown of liberty where he resided until his time of death.

He was a hard worker and he believed if it was worth doing it was worth doing right. He loved the outdoors and his greatest passion was hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings; Dell, Owen, Fern, and Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Johnson Hymas and their three children; Brian (Anita) Hymas and Mike (Alisa) Hymas of Pocatello, ID and Jana (Kory) Bauer of Shelley, ID. His two brothers LeRoy Hymas of Afton, WY and Terry (Ruth) Hymas of Logan, UT and two sisters: Elaine (Kenneth) Budge of Pocatello, ID and Elva (Daryl) Williams of West Jordan, UT; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Liberty LDS Chapel, in Liberty, ID. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
