Howard Joseph Larsen's Obituary

We regret to announce the passing of Howard Joseph (Joe) Larsen. He died on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at home surrounded by family.

Joe was born in Salt Lake City, UT on July 15, 1942. He was raised in Fish Haven and Ashton and graduated from South Fremont High School. He was nominated for the Naval Academy but turned it down to serve a mission. He served in the Copenhagen Denmark Mission like his father and grandfather. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of Idaho in Moscow. He married the love of his life, LeAnne Davidson, in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 24, 1965. He held many corporate management and executive positions in his career in Iowa, Wisconsin, New York, Ohio, and New Mexico. He was President and CEO of a pharmaceutical company that manufactured many of the major anticancer drugs. He was well respected and his colleagues called him Mr. Integrity.

One of his most loved hobbies was sailing on the Great Lakes. He loved the outdoors, military history, and good chocolate. He was an Amateur Extra HAM radio operator and served two terms as president of the local amateur radio club BEARS.

Of foremost importance in his life were his family and his faith. He served in many callings including Bishop and in a Stake Presidency. He served as an ordinance worker in both the Las Vegas and Logan temples.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dawna Larsen, and his sister Bethanne Allen. He is survived by his wife, LeAnne Davidson Larsen, his children: David (Mylisa) Larsen, Kirsten (John Paul) Culligan, Bryant (Polly) Larsen, Crystal (Aaron) Hunsaker, 19 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is beloved by friends and neighbors as well as his family. Since he was a young man his goal in life was to live so that it could be said of him, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)
