Grant Saunders Morgan's Obituary

Grant Saunders Morgan, 84, of Liberty, Idaho passed away peacefully in his home on December 6, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. Born on June 18, 1941, in Soda Springs, Idaho, he was raised on the family farm in Liberty and then fulfilled a life-long dream or raising his own family in the same house on the same beloved ground.

Dad was the rock we all leaned on – the "go-to" for advice, comfort, fun, perspective, and always unfailing love. No matter the job, the project, the decision, the engineering feat, we could always count on Dad for the answer. Because of Dad we know self-sufficiency, we know how to re-jigger most projects, we all have an insane work ethic, and most importantly we know the worth of loving family.

Dad was the hardest working person we knew. He worked for Utah Power and Light for many many years to support what he called his farming hobby, his preferred occupation. While often putting in twenty-hour days to keep up with both livelihoods, he never neglected what he considered to be his most important job of husband and father. He never missed a school program, a band or choir concert, a scouting or mutual event, a clogging performance, or school graduation. He also never missed an opportunity to change a diaper or tuck his children into bed with an off-the-top-of-his-head bedtime story.

Dad loved to hike and fish, to go for rides whether in the car or on the 4-wheelers, and he loved being out in the forest, even if it was while hauling wood. Dad loved John Wayne and football. But most of all Dad loved spending time with his family, whether on a trip to Yellowstone (his favorite place away from home), at a family wedding, baptism, or baby blessing, or especially sitting around the kitchen table, first for a family meal and then for a spirited game of cards or dominoes. Dad's sense of humor entertained all who met him and kept the atmosphere in our home fun and full or laughter.

Dad was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Diane Bawden Morgan. He is survived by his six children: Traci (Michael Jones), Trevor (Missy), Troy (Michele), Travis (Sing), Trista and TruLynn (Matthew McConkie). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his remaining sisters, remaining sister and brother-in-law, extended family and friends.

Dad, we will miss you more than we can possibly express. We are comforted knowing you were happily received on the other side by mom.

A funeral service will be held on December 11, 2025, at 11:00am, in the Liberty, Idaho LDS chapel.

A viewing will take place prior to the funeral from 9 - 10:45

Interment will be at the Liberty Cemetery.
