Grace Marie LeGrand Smith passed away peacefully, on April 21, 2017 in South Jordan, Utah. Grace lived 88 years, blessing the lives of her family and friends with her kindness, laughter and love.

She was born May 23, 1928 in Cheyenne Wyoming, to Charles and Helena Matthews. She spent her childhood in Kemmerer, Wyoming.

She married Merele Woodson LeGrand on November 29, 1946 and had two sons, Merele Laird and Brad Matthew. Together they enjoyed many happy years until Merele's passing in 1972.

Grace was then able to love and raise two more sons, Steve and Tom Smith when she married Tatterson W. Smith on March 10, 1976. They also enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 2007.

Grace lived a long and active life mostly in Montpelier, Idaho. She was a devout member of her church and served faithfully. She enjoyed working as a dental assistant for many years. She loved knitting, quilting, playing her piano, playing bridge, cooking, baking and was always the most gracious host to anyone that came through her door.

Grace met challenges in life with great strength. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her sense of humor was a joy to all who knew her. She had a wonderful way of making people smile, even in her last days.

We love you so much and will miss you dearly.

She is survived by her children: Laird (Wendy) LeGrand, Stephen (Clarissa) Smith, Tom (Renee) Smith. Ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Emma Mae. Her husband, Merele LeGrand. Her husband, Tatterson Smith. Her son Brad Matthew LeGrand. And her granddaughter, Lisa Kay LeGrand.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11am at Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, Idaho. Her wishes were to not have a formal viewing. She wanted to be remembered as she was and have the memories of her be happy ones.

Her family wishes to thank all of the Legacy Assisted Living staff, the hospice team and her doctor who loved and cared for her.
