George W. Edgerton

George W. Edgerton, 85, died at his home in Riverton Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2011

George William Edgerton was born on April 26, 1925 in Afton to William John and Grace H. (Turner) Edgerton.

His family described Mr. Edgerton as jovial and said he enjoyed visiting with family and friends, loved being around children, and enjoyed shaking hands with everyone. They said Christmas was very special to him; he participated in gift giving from the angel tree for children in need. They said his birthday was also very special he has thrown a huge party for the head start kids for his birthday with burgers and cake for several years. And he enjoyed helping the Key Club preparing Thanksgiving meals for the community. He also volunteered at the Head start

Mr. Edgerton went to school at the Wyoming State Training School in Lander.

His family said he enjoyed riding in the horse-drawn wagon, which offered therapeutic therapy. When he was young, he would help his brother Andy hitch up the horse and wagon daily and pick up the children to go to the Wyoming State Training School. He also helped in the nursery. He loved Cars and trucks, going for rides. He enjoyed going to the casino for Tuesday senior lunches. He also went to the Riverton senior center weekly for lunch.

Mr. Edgerton is survived by two nieces, Sande Olson and her husband Tony, and Sherri Raymond; nephew, Dustin Edgerton; housemates, Shirley, Melvin, and Margie; caretakers, Rita, Sarah, Barbara, Kay, Kathy, and Marybelle; hospice caregivers, Kristy and Katy. And many, many friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William and Andy.
