Gary Clifton Leissring, 73, passed away on May 6, 2016, in Montpelier, Idaho. He was born October 11, 1942, in Tonopah, Nevada, to Edward Otto Leissring and Lucille Minnie Perchetti Leissring. He later attended schools in Montpelier, Idaho.
Gary served in the United States Army in the years 1960-1963 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
On August 22, 1962, Gary married the love of his life, Sandra Rae Smith, in Georgetown, Idaho. It was a marriage that lasted 54 years, until Sandra passed away on January 26, 2016. Two daughters were born to them, Rita M. Black and Tina R. Swa.
Gary worked many jobs throughout his life, mostly in the automotive and mining industries. He was an excellent mechanic and heavy equipment operator.
Gary had numerous interests and hobbies and was truly a jack of all trades. He was a very skilled carpenter and craftsman. He made many beautiful and unique curio cabinets, gun cabinets, tables, shelves, kitchen cabinets and bath cabinets, to name a few. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and was in awe of nature and the mountains. He especially loved camping and spending time in the mountains with his family and friends around him, playing guitar and singing around a campfire. He loved the art of flight and owned several different airplanes in his younger years.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Rae Smith Leissring, his parents, and one sister, Darleen Wuthrich.
He is survived by his two daughters, Rita (Bret) Black and Tina R. Swa, three grandchildren, Brian (Hayley) Black, Sara Black (Mike Wright) and Taylor Swa, one great-grandchild, Kaysen Black, and two siblings, Eddy Leissring and Lucille Manos.
