Evelyn Merritt Marx's Obituary

Evelyn Merritt Marx, 74, passed away peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with Hutchinson's Disease, on June 19th, 2015 in Montpelier, ID. She was born April 29th, 1941 in Afton, WY to Lawrence and Jean Fosberg Astle Merritt. She was the third of five children.

Evelyn graduated from Star Valley LDS Seminary and High School in May, 1959; she then continued her education in Salt Lake City, UT, where she was a graduate of the Salt Lake City PBX Switchboard and Receptionist School and was later employed at the Genealogical Office of the LDS Church in Salt Lake City.

In the summer of 1960, Evelyn met the love of her life, Delbert Marx and dated for 2 years while he was in the National Guard. They were married September 15th, 1962 in Osmond, WY and were later sealed in the Logan, UT LDS Temple, for all time and eternity. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Jacilyn (Jaci) and Brian Delbert Marx. They started their lives in Smithfield, UT; then moved to Montpelier, ID, so Delbert could be closer to the family farm, while they built their dream home in Geneva, ID.

Evelyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She worked with the youth, Relief Society and fulfilled many Stake Callings.

Evelyn loved the outdoors and always found a way to enjoy God's beautiful creations. She enjoyed camping and going on picnics with her family. She always had a huge and beautiful garden, along with a yard full of flowers.

Evelyn was a very talented artist. She put her talents to use sewing, crocheting, painting and was a member of the Art Guild.

Evelyn had a great love for her family and was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Delbert Marx; her children, Jacilyn (Robby) Taylor of Bloomington, ID and Brian (Rachelle) Marx of Preston, ID. She was also survived by 8 Grandchildren, Lyndsey (Lance) Walker, Deveryn (Jessica) VanDarlin, Jonathan and Kolton Taylor, Meagan (Darren) Jorgenson, Chandler Marx, Maddison Marx and Mercedez Marx; 3 Great-Grandchildren and 2 on the way.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 12:00PM, in the Geneva LDS Church, on June 24th, 2015. Prior to the services will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:45AM.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Home Health and Bear Lake Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility; as well as Dr. Clay Campbell and Anya Anthony, PA. The family is also grateful for the kindness and thoughts of neighbors, friends, extended family and church members.
