Elaine Smith's Obituary

Etta Elaine (Elaine) Myers Smith of Montpelier, Idaho, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother and friend to all, passed away July 7, 2015, at age 98. She was born to Thomas and Lydia Alzina (nee Calvert) Myers in Pocatello, Idaho, January 4, 1917. Her husband, Vernon Hirschi Smith, preceded her in death. They were married on October 19, 1931 in Paris Idaho, and sealed for time and all eternity on their 46th wedding anniversary in the Ogden, Utah Temple, October 19, 1977. They were blessed with two daughters, Peggy Lou and Jeannine. Elaine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day

Saints and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, which she shared often with her family. She held many positions in her church, including serving as a faithful visiting teacher for over 70 years. Elaine loved reading, crocheting, scrapbooking, gardening, and traveling with friends and family. She loved to write, memorize, and recite poetry. She loved children, especially babies. Elaine loved to make her family and the staff at the Skilled Nursing Center laugh by making her funny faces. Elaine belonged to the Bear Lake Rangers and enjoyed riding horses and long trips in the Wind River. She was also a great caregiver to many people. Though she did not serve in the military, she was extremely patriotic and loved this country. She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy, of Washington, Utah and Jeannine, of Montpelier, Idaho, 8 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 55 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great granddaughters. Interment was in the Montpelier, ID Cemetery.
