Dorothy Dean Povey Griffiths (99) formerly of Liberty, Idaho passed away at her home in Chubbuck, Idaho on December 28, 2025
She was born March 27, 1926, in Clifton, Idaho to Arthur and Martha Eldena Fredrickson Povey. She was their second daughter in a family of six children, Lorraine, Dorothy, Grant, Leonard, Carma and Eldon. Dorothy grew up in Clifton on the family farm in a home with parents who loved their children and taught them values such as hard work and the importance of family.
Dorothy attended school in Clifton, graduating as the valedictorian of her High School senior class. She met Zeldon "Zed" King Griffiths while attending a high school dance. They continued dating during her high school years and she wrote to him while he was in the military during World Ward II.
After graduation she went to work at the Naval Gun Plant in Ogden, Utah to assist in the war effort. On August 9th, 1945, she married Zeldon King in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Logan, Utah Temple.
During Zed's military service, they lived for a short time in places like Colorado, Texas and then returned home to the Preston area, before moving their family to Montpelier, Idaho. They started a glass shop called "Zed's Glass & Paint." In 1960, they bought a farm in Liberty, Idaho and moved the family there to farm for the next 57 years. Dorothy loved the people there and appreciated their friendliness and love.
Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many callings. She loved genealogy and spent hours of time devoted to working in the Bear Lake Family History Center. She also loved serving in the Logan Temple with her loving husband Zed.
She is survived by her children, son Kay (Susan) Griffiths of Cedar City, Utah, daughter Eldena (Dean) Grover of Rigby, Idaho, son Allen (Sheila) Griffiths of Pocatello, Idaho, daughter Karen (David) Snyder of Pocatello, Idaho, daughter LaNae Parkin of Pocatello, Idaho. 26 Grandchildren, 99 Great Grandchildren, and 9 Great Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Carma (Sylvan) Morgan of Chubbuck, Idaho.
Prior to the service, there will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located in Liberty, Idaho. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m.
