Eugene Heap

On Dec. 4, 2011 Dellis Eugene Heap returned to his Heavenly Father form his home in freedom, due to complications or a long-term illness.

Eugene was born on May 16, 1945 in Afton. He grew up hunting, fishing and learning to work hard milking cows on the farm in Freedom.

When he was in high school, Eugene worked for a few summers for the Forest Service, putting in camp grounds and installing water lines. In 1966, Eugene started working for Dick Taylor and Steve Clark as a hunting guide.

In 1968 he met Evelyn Smith from Soda Springs. They were married on April 10, 1970. Their marriage was later solemnized on March 19, 1992 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Eugene enjoyed his church duties, specifically teaching the five and six years and the 14 and up in Sunday school. He also served in Sunday school and Elders Quorum, which brought him great joy.

Eugene purchased the hunting camp in 1971 and ran the camp up Snake River at Table Creek. During the off season, he worked for Clarks Ready Mix in Jackson, until 1990, when he sold the hunting camp and started Yellowstone Decorative Landscaping. He made the career change in order to be home more and teach his boys good work ethic. He worked the business successfully until he passed away.

Eugene's family and friends were very important to him and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Evelyn; and five children RoxAnne (Keith) Taylor; Genilee (David) Townsend; Thad (Katie) Heap; Brock Heap; Brant (Korri) Heap; and 14 grandchildren. He also leaves behind one brother, Bill (Minnie) Hull; a sister, Barbara (Woody) Hoopes; and a sister, Janice (Kelly) Mackey.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dellis and Erma Heap; and a sister, Nadine.
