Obituary

Dee James Williamson, 81, passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2026. He was born July 1, 1944, in Logan, Utah, to John Leishman Williamson and Ada Forrester. Dee spent most of his childhood in North Hollywood, California, alongside his siblings, Clark Williamson and Joan Little.

After completing high school and a year of junior college, Dee faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission. Upon his return, he attended Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and a Master’s degree in Climatology. During his college years, Dee also proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

While at BYU, Dee met his sweetheart, Janet Sevy. They were married for time and all eternity in the St. George Utah Temple on October 10, 1969.

Dee valued hard work and built a dedicated professional career. He began with the Bureau of Land Management, later transitioned to a private coal mining company, and ultimately spent the majority of his career as a government contractor for several companies collaborating with the Department of Energy.

A faithful, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dee held a deep and unwavering testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served committedly in numerous church callings and deeply cherished the lifelong friendships and connections he made with fellow members. Following his retirement, Dee and Janet continued their devotion by serving together in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission.

Though a stroke in 2020 limited his physical mobility, Dee’s sharp mind never wavered. He channeled his remaining years into his passion for family history, spending hours at his computer indexing thousands of names and publishing beautifully compiled genealogy books.

Dee was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Maughn Williamson; and his granddaughter, Sierra Mae Williamson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; their children, Jason Williamson, Nate Williamson, Amber (Clint) Allen, Amy (Clint) Mori, Ada (Layne) DeClark, Amanda (Craig) Myers, and Milton Williamson; and his 13 cherished grandchildren: Hailey, Carson, Conner, Abigail, Kylee, Paige, Adak, Jackson, Bennett, Lucy, Sage, William, and Annie.

A graveside service will be held at Burton Cemetery outside Rexburg Idaho on June 12th 2026 at 12pm.
