David Legrande Caldwell's Obituary

David LeGrande Caldwell, 72, of Montpelier, Idaho, passed away unexpectidly on Friday, August 15th, 2014. Born in Rexburg Idaho on September 6 1941 to Della Leone Grover Caldwell Nourse (Leon Nourse step-father) and Melvin LeGrande Caldwell.

David lived in Gooding, Idaho with his grandparents where he graduated from high school in 1959. Soon after graduation David moved to Carbon County, Utah where he met and married his life long partner Mary Jolene Mower on June 22, 1963 in Price, Utah. David accepted a position with Utah Power & Light and later moved from Price to Montpelier, Idaho in 1969 . David transfered from Montpelier to Arco Idaho in 1983 where he worked until 1997 when he accepted a position to return to the Bear Lake valley.

David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many positions through out his life most notibly his many years as a scout leader in the Monpelier 2nd ward, and as a Bishop in the Arco, Idaho ward.

David also actively served the public politically in various positions including the city council in Arco, and as Mayor of Montpelier. He also served as a law enforcement officer both in Butte and Bear Lake Counties.

David is survived by his daughter Natalie (Kevin) Parker, Montpelier, Idaho, son David Shane (Katie) Caldwell of Boise, and Jared (Elizabeth) Caldwell of Layton, Utah. Grandchildren Krysta (Travis) Wright of Montpelier, Dak Sermon of Arco, Idaho, Casey Sermon of Howe, Idaho, Alexis Sermon of Montpelier, Idaho, Jaxon and Riley Caldwell of Pocatello, Idaho, Harley Davis of Layton, Utah, Charli Collins of Boise. Great grandchild Treysen Wright of Montpelier. He is also survived by his brother George Nourse of Clinton, Utah. and sisters Joleen Nourse of the Salt Lake Valley, Vickie Nelson of Elmo, Utah.

Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Jolene Caldwell, son Cody LeGrande Caldwell, Mother, Father, Step-Father, and sister Diane of Helper, Utah.

Services will be held Wednesday August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Montpelier LDS 2nd Ward Church in Montpelier, Idaho. A viewing will be that held at that location in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
