Danny Elwin Gunn, fondly called "Gunner," was born February 14, 1952, in Montpelier, Idaho, and passed away April 30, 2014, in his home in Bennington, Idaho, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, DeeAnn Gunn.whom he married October 12, 1973. Later they solemnized their marriage in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Together they have five children; Danielle Gunn, Jared Gunn, Tanja Dawn (Ryan) Cornelison, Shawn Keith Gunn, and Joshua Dee (Anna) Gunn. Danny is also survived by Danny's Mother, Wynona Booth Kunz; He has 2 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. Danny has an uncle; Woody (Aleen) Harris, two brothers; Brent (Erin) Kunz and Jody (Juanita) Kunz and one sister; Cynthia (Rick) Hunter and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Father; Keith William Gunn, his Aunt; Arvella Harris, his stepfather; Ivan Ray Kunz, and a sister Cyndia.

Danny was born to Wynona and Keith William Gunn, whom he loved very much. Keith made sure Danny knew how to stand on his own two feet and work and play from dawn to dusk. Keith was quite a horseman and was able to pass some of his special secrets to Danny. Keith also taught Danny never to lose a fight, regardless of the time or place. Danny spent some of his childhood in Dingle, Idaho, where his Uncle Woody taught him more about ranching, putting up hay, loving the land and running livestock. When he was too young to work outside, his Aunt Arvella had him pump water and do dishes for the hay crews for a dollar a day.

Danny was a very intelligent, gifted individual. He was one of those special men that could do anything and everything. He could ride a horse, doctor animals, build fence, shoot any gun like no other, reload gun shells, and even write poetry. He tried his best to teach his children the things he knew. His greatest loves were ranching, guns, hunting, horses, camping up Wells Canyon, reading, and mostly his family.

Danny retired from the Monsanto mine located in Soda Springs, Idaho, in 2013. One of his favorite jobs was and always will be ranching. He often stated his happiest days were when he was cowboying. Danny served on the Bear Lake County Ambulance Service as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for over twenty years. He was also a medic for Monsanto. Danny was well known for his medical talents, knowledge, and abilities. His children discovered it was better and cheaper to go to him for medical and veterinary needs.

Danny's family loved and respected him. They are proud of the legacy he stood for and passed to them. He, along with his knowledge and advice, are going to be greatly missed. Prior to his death, he was just a phone call away for advice and guidance. We, as a family, are already missing that phone. Friends may call at Schwab-Matthews Mortuary Sunday, May 4, from 6-8 p.m. A morning viewing will be held Monday, May 5, at the Bennington LDS Church located at 24 E Center Street from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Montpelier Cemetery.
