Dan Lee Leavitt
Dan Lee Leavitt, 59, passed peacefully away on Jan. 19, 2011 in the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah after a grief battle with cancer.
He was born in Afton on May 15, 1951 the third child to Verl Elmer and Reita Irene Leavitt. In 1963 the family moved from the farm life in Auburn to Soda Springs, Idaho where he attended school until he enlisted in the draft at the tender young age of 17.
After serving our country to protect our freedom which included fighting in the war of Vietnam, he returned to Soda Springs to start his life. He worked at several of the plants, mostly Becker, until he was unable to work anymore due to health issues and back problems that stemmed from his time serving our country.
Danny's passion has always been beautiful scenery in and around the Soda Springs area. He spent many hours driving the back country, looking at the wildlife, and taking view of some of the most beautiful wildlife scenes not viewed by many people.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Diana Leavitt of Soda Springs; one daughter, Danielle and Jay Lux of Bennington, Idaho; one granddaughter, Chandri-Dawn Rebekah Burnham of Bennington, Idaho; one grandson, Colton John Burnham of Bennington, Idaho.
Also surviving is his mother Reita Leavitt of Soda Springs; a sister Verlene and Sam Humphreys of Soda Springs; a brother, Robert and Crystal Leavitt of Soda Springs; a sister, Karen and Randy Parrish of Pocatello; and Sister Betty and Larry Ezell of Soda Springs; and brother Brent Leavitt of Boise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Verl E. Leavitt; his first wife, Wendy Bassett; one nephew, John; a son in law, Christopher Burnham, and all his aunts and uncles with the exception of one uncle on his father's side, and all his aunts and uncles on his mother's side.
Services were held on Wednesday, Jan 26 in Soda Springs. Burial will be in the Afton Wyoming Cemetery at a later date.
