Chauncey Richard
Roberts Jr.
December 16, 1940 – February 19, 2026
Chauncey Richard Roberts Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by his wife, Dixie Dutson Roberts, and family. Born December 16, 1940, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, he was raised in Cokeville as the third of four children of Chauncey Richard Roberts and Jennie Adell Murphy Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Arlene Roberts Kennington and Joy Roberts Cassels. He is survived by his brother, Brent Roberts.
From a young age, Chauncey worked alongside his father in the family construction business, C.R. Roberts & Sons. There, he developed the strong work ethic and steady, honest character that defined his life. A 1959 graduate of Cokeville High School, he served as student body president, earned All-State honors in basketball, participated in band and choir, and graduated as valedictorian of his class. He later attended the University of Wyoming, played basketball on scholarship at Sheridan Junior College, and faithfully served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Chauncey devoted much of his life to C.R. Roberts & Sons. His boys grew up working alongside him, learning the value of hard work and responsibility. In later years, he worked as a shovel operator at Kennecott Copper, where his skill, reliability, and humility earned him the respect of those around him. He especially valued the opportunity to work alongside two of his sons at Kennecott for twenty-two years.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a dedicated husband and father who raised six children, building a legacy rooted in faith, hard work, and family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Dixie Dutson Roberts; his children: Denton Roberts (AnnCheri) of Meridian, Idaho; Cheree Huffaker of Evanston, Wyoming; Cameron Roberts (Bekah) of Tooele, Utah; LeaKae Musgrove (Ray) of Morgan, Utah; Collin Roberts (Cassie) of Erda, Utah; and Nathan Roberts of Kemmerer, Wyoming; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed by his steady example and enduring love.
He will be forever honored for his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and the lasting foundation he built for those he loved.
