Charles Ronald
Rowland
March 24, 1952 – January 20, 2026
Charles Ronald Rowland, age 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved wife and all ten of his children.
Ron was born on March 24, 1952, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Arthur and Dorothy Rowland. He was the third of five children. From an early age, Ron found joy in simple moments—playing in the sandbox with his siblings and listening as his mother read stories to him. As he grew older, he cherished time spent hunting and fishing with his father and learned the value of hard work while helping in the family-owned laundry, lessons that shaped the man he would become.
At the age of 18, Ron joined the United States Navy, serving honorably for four years. While home on leave, he reunited with Ramona, the young woman who would become the love of his life. Though he did not recognize her at first, she recognized him immediately, and he was more than happy to reacquaint himself. They were married on April 13, 1973, later sealed in the Provo Utah Temple, and together built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion, raising ten children.
Following his military service, Ron, Ramona, and their first child, James, moved to Provo, Utah, where Ron attended Brigham Young University. He completed four years of study while working in construction to support his rapidly growing family. Construction became his lifelong profession, and Ron was known as a true jack-of-all-trades. He built four of the homes on the street where the family lived and later helped his sons build their own homes. Whether it involved houses, cars, or projects large and small, there was little Ron could not fix or figure out.
After thirteen years in Provo, the family returned to Montpelier, Idaho, where they remained, surrounded by extended family, faith, and community. Ron especially loved hunting in the nearby mountains with his sons. He also had a deep appreciation for music and a lifelong love of reading and writing. Thoughtful and introspective, Ron engaged in meaningful gospel and philosophical conversations with his children, family, and friends. A deep thinker with a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, he offered insight, perspective, and spiritual depth to all who knew him.
Ron was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings throughout his life. Those who knew him felt the quiet strength and power of his testimony. Yet, of all his callings, his most cherished role was that of husband and father. He poured endless time, energy, and love into his family and was their hero, teacher, and unwavering support. Through his example, guidance, and gift of faith, Ron shaped generations, and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
Few lives better illustrate the profound impact of a good man on his family and community. Ron served longer and more faithfully in that pursuit than most. His passing leaves a deep void, one that will be felt by all who knew him, but especially by his devoted wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, Ramona Rowland; his children: James Rowland; Jared Rowland; Jessica (John) Straley; Emily (Donal) Stones; Tyler (Doni Lynn) Rowland; Andy (Ari) Rowland; Michael Rowland; Alyssum (Will) Swarting; Cassie (Keith) Munsee; and Devon (Morgan) Rowland. Together, Ron and Ramona are blessed with 27 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Brian Rowland and sisters Linda Leavitt, Charlotte Thomas, and Marian VanDyke.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Rowland.
