Carolyn Warren
Royall
December 23, 2015
Carolyn Warren Royall joined her sweetheart, Robert O. Royall, Jr., on December 23, 2015, to celebrate their first Christmas together in 18 years. Carolyn (Carrie) was born January 12, 1917, in Sumter, SC, and died at home in Montpelier, ID, where she had lived for the last 13 years. She and Bob lived on James Island, SC, until they moved their family to Provo, UT, in 1960. They later moved to San Diego, CA, returned to SC, for a period of service, and then returned to their home in California. They eventually moved to Bountiful, UT, where Bob passed away in 1998. Later Carolyn moved to Montpelier, ID, to live with her daughter Jessie.
Most of her life was spent as a nurse and she especially loved teaching others in her profession. In fact, she loved teaching of any kind and was still teaching Primary children in her mid- 90's.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints played a pivotal role in their lives. They spent most of their married life serving in various callings. She served in Relief Society, Young Women and Primary, some more than once, through the years and supported Bob as he served as Bishop and, later, as Patriarch. They enjoyed attending the temple and after Bob's death she served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple for several years. Bob and Carolyn spent their lives in quiet service to family, friends and church.
Granny loved reading, knitting, playing Scrabble and Chess, especially with her grandchildren, doing genealogy on her computer and was still playing computer games with people all over the world until a few months before her death. She especially enjoyed Words with Friends. She was a member of the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered many hours of service.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Leighton Wilson and Hettie Brunson Warren, two brothers, Leighton Wilson Warren, Jr. and Thomas Brunson Warren, a sister, Dora Lou Warren Walpole and a daughter-in law, Beverly Thompson Royall.
She is survived by her children Michael (Lisa) Royall, Jessie (Marden) Phelps, Scott (Cindy) Royall, Warren (Ann) Royall, Hettie (Larry) Gardner, Beth (Timothy) Harper. She has thirty-six grandchildren, sixty-seven great-grandchildren (with five more coming soon) and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held December 31, 2015, at 12:00 P.M., in the LDS Chapel at 1090 North 400 East, Orem, UT with burial in the Orem City Cemetery. Donations to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
