Carma Erika Jacobsen Dorney, 73, passed away due to a brain aneurysm on

June 23, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Salt Lake

City September 28, 1941 to Harold and Erika Jacobsen. As a child she lived in

Germany for a few years after WWII, then later moved to Bountiful, Utah where she

graduated from Bountiful High School. In her youth she was one of the last to raft

down the Colorado River before the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam. Carma

won various awards for her excellent marksmanship, a skill she learned from her

father. She also loved hiking, bird watching, and spending time with her

grandchildren.

On July 9, 1962 she married Dallas W. Dorney and they made their home in

Dingle, ID. There, she drove the school bus and taught swimming lessons. In 1983

they moved to Ogden, UT where Carma continued to work for the Red Cross, IHC,

and later the Boy Scouts of America. With the Red Cross she did a lot of volunteer

work. She helped in New York after 9/11 and with several hurricanes, including,

Hugo, Rita, Sandy, and Katrina. She was also involved with several shelters and local

disasters.

Carma Erika Jacobsen Dorney was preceded in death by her parents, Harold

and Erika Jacobsen; her husband, Dallas Dorney; and her bother, Harold Jacobsen.

She is survived by her sisters, Kathryn Matthews and Connie Chamberlain; her

children, Vaughn, Kathleen, Curtis (LeeAnn), Grant (Ginger), and Steven (Jaime); and

her grandchildren, Kasey, Chance, Alexis, Sidney, Steven, and Donovan.

There will be a viewing at 10:00 a.m. and a Funeral Service will be held at

River Parkway Ward, 1050 21st Street Ogden, Utah 84401 at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday,

June 27, 2015.

The Graveside Service will be held at the Dingle, ID Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on

Monday, June 29, 2015.
