Bradley Daniel Schaffer's Obituary

Bradley Daniel Schaffer, 69, of Montpelier, Idaho, passed away February 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Brad was born September 18, 1956, in LaBarge, Wyoming, to Daniel and Deanna Schaffer.

Brad was the oldest of five children. He spent the first four years of his life in LaBarge before his father's work took the family to Soda Springs, Idaho. After two years there, they moved to Georgetown and eventually settled in Montpelier, Idaho, the place where Brad met the love of his life, Tracy Lee Hill.

Brad and Tracy began dating when he was 14 and she was 13, and from that day forward, they were never apart. They were married on September 4, 1975, and were later sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with four children. Their marriage was a shining example of devotion, faith, and enduring eternal love .

Brad graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1974 and attended Idaho State University, where he studied Vo-Tech Mechanics. He worked in the mines in Soda Springs before later working at the plant. As a safety coordinator, his desire to grow and improve led him back to Idaho State University at the age of 50, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Training and Development. He retired in August 2020. Brad believed in giving his very best in everything he did and continually sought opportunities to learn and better himself.

A faithful servant of his Heavenly Father, Brad was kind, patient, steadfast, and gentle. He had a strong testimony of his Savior and lived his faith daily. He served faithfully in many church callings, most recently on the High Council, where he loved speaking in different wards. Brad and Tracy also served together in the Star Valley Temple from October 2022 until February 2026  a calling they cherished deeply.

Brad loved the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, cooking, reading, and woodworking. He was truly a man of many talents; there was little he couldn't do, and whatever he did, he did with perfection. He was known for his love of buying guns and gloves. There were gloves in every vehicle and nearly every corner of the house. He also enjoyed a good movie, even a Hallmark Christmas show if it made Tracy happy.

Brad and Tracy spent countless hours traveling to their grandchildren's sporting events, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely, and they loved him just as deeply.

Brad was our everything and will be missed more than words can express. We are heartbroken, yet forever grateful and blessed to have had someone so extraordinary to love and to miss.

He is survived by his sweet wife of 50 years, Tracy Schaffer; his children: Scott (Susan) Schaffer, Amber (Wayne) Hanson, Jamie (Keith) Wuthrich, and Tyson (Tia) Schaffer; his parents, Daniel and Deanna Schaffer; his siblings, Brett, Brenda, Brian, and Barnett; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family sincerely thanks all who have kept them in their thoughts and prayers and shown such tremendous love during this difficult time.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 3, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Schwab Matthews Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the Bloomington Cemetery. All who would like to join the family are invited to attend.
