Brad H. "Pard" Jenkins
Brad H. "Pard" Jenkins, age 50, passed away in a farming accident on June 9, 2012, doing what he loved. He was born May 20, 1962 in Afton to Theras Ira and Lucille Hibbard Jenkins. He was the seventh child out of 12 children. Brad attended Metcalf Elementary and finished at Star Valley High School. He was self-taught in many things and continued to learn for the rest of his life. Brad was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was eight-years-old. As he grew he developed a testimony of Jesus Christ and appreciation for the doctrines of the gospel. He served a full time mission in Anaheim, Calif., in 1982. He served in the Elders Quorum, Sunday School, and other church callings. Over the years, he also supported and helped others to be able to fulfill their callings. He milked cows and did field work for Fred Brog before and after his mission. He worked on the family farm for the rest of his life. He sheared sheep in and out of the valley, and eventually bought his own shearing trailer and equipment. He spent time raising and training working dogs and horses to use in his day to day work on the farm. Branding was always a fun time with the help of family and friends. He made work fun, while teaching valuable life lessons. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could do most any kind of work. Brad enjoyed life in the valley. He loved to go rifle and bow hunting. He had numerous hunting friends and enjoyed outings with them. He enjoyed every thing about the mountains, cutting and gathering wood for the winter, picking huckleberries, and just the beautiful scenery. He liked to bake and was a great pie maker. He enjoyed country and square dancing. He loved to listen to the old time country western music and the Sounds of Sunday in the barn while he milked. Brad was kind and loved his family. The nieces and nephews all loved him and he loved them. His father Theras and all of his grandparents preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother Lucille Jenkins, Clarkston, Utah; 11 siblings: Doris(Chris) Barney, Wapato, Wash.; Rosalee Nielsen, Hyrum, Utah; Lynden, Freedom; Beverly (Mitch) Courter, Clarkston, Utah; Sherman, Las Vegas, NV; Edward, Freedom; Tad (Michelle), Freedom; William (Linda-Rusty), Rexburg; Jeannette (Fred) Laird, Minersville, Utah; Charlotte (Robert), Freedom and Borden (Tori), Cedar City, Utah; as well as 34 nieces and nephews, four aunts, one uncle, and numerous cousins.
