Obituary

Arthur “Art” Eugene Green, born January 13, 1952, in Willow Springs, Missouri, to Lyle and Ila Green, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at Ozark Healthcare, surrounded by his family after health issues.

In October 2023, after spending over 40 years out West. He returned to Missouri where his story began, giving him his final years to the place he always called home.

Art lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, family, friendship, generosity, and a whole lot of personality. He was a man who could make a friend almost anywhere he went, and he had a gift for gab that some of us will proudly carry on for generations to come.

Art grew up alongside his siblings Wayne, Etta Marie, JW, and Eddie. His childhood was filled with the simple things that made for the best memories—fishing, playing in the creek, shooting guns, writing poetry, and playing baseball and football.

When Art was just 14 years old, his father was injured. With the family needing help, Art left school and went to work at the wood mill to help take care of their family. That experience shaped the man Art would become: hardworking, dependable, and always willing to do whatever was necessary for the people he loved.

In 1972, Art met Sheila. They married and welcomed their daughter, Shannon, into the world. Although their marriage later ended in divorce after two and a half years, their story didn't end there.

When Art moved back to Missouri, he and Sheila rekindled a beautiful best-friend relationship. They talked every day and were always there for one another. After all the years and all the life they had lived, they found their way back to a special friendship built on caring, laughter, support, and the history they shared. It was a relationship that meant a great deal to both of them.

In 1977, Art and headed West to work in the oilfield. The West would eventually become Art's home for more than 40 years.

Art met and married Denise, and together they bullt a life and raising their five children: LeTawnya, Krista, Derrick, Devin, and Jesse. Although they went their separate ways after 25 years of marriage, they remained supportive and good friends until Denise’s passing in September 2023.

Early in his years out West, Art worked at the mine in Soda Springs, Idaho. After an injury changed the direction of his career, Art put his determination and mechanical ability to work and eventually owned his own businesses in drain cleaning and small-engine repair.

More importantly, Art taught his children LaTawnya, Krista, Derrick, Devin, and Jesse, the value of a strong work ethic, perseverance, and taking pride in what you do. During the summers, Art and usually one of kids would spend long days cutting & hauling load after load of wood. Those lessons became part of who they are and are a legacy that will be carried on through their children and grandchildren for generations to come.

Art wasn't just building a business—he was building relationships. He made countless friends and acquaintances throughout the years, and it wasn't unusual to find one of his children or grandchildren working alongside him on a job. His sons Derrick and Jesse, along with his grandsons Ryley,Trayson, Josh & David will carry that work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit forward into their own life & businesses.

For more than 10 years, Wade Parr was Art's right-hand man, sharing the work, long days, and undoubtedly plenty of stories along the way

Art was known for his generosity, kindness, and enormous heart. If he knew someone was struggling financially, he would often refuse to charge them—even when he was down to his own last dollar. Helping people was simply who he was. He believed in giving, serving, and making sure that others had what they needed.

Art and Denise spent a couple of summers running a drive-in in Paris, Idaho, where Art found yet another way to serve people—by giving away plenty of ice cream cones.

He was also famous for his banana bread. Over the 15 years he made it, Art baked more than 30,000 loaves, giving them away to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else lucky enough to receive one. He was also known for his delicious cheeseballs and homemade salsa.

And then there was Art's famous ability to save absolutely everything.

It didn't matter what it was—Art was convinced somebody might need it someday. Butter containers, Cool Whip containers, cottage cheese containers... if it had a lid, there was probably a reason to keep it.

As his kids would say, that's where some of our trust issues started. 😂

Art loved his children unconditionally, and he adored his grandchildren even more. Some of his favorite times were spent taking his family to the Bear Lake Hot Springs and fishing at Dingle Pond. These weren't just outings—they became family traditions, memories that he passed down to his grandchildren and that will continue long after he is gone.

Art had a way of making people feel welcome, a way of talking to anyone, and a way of making sure no one left his presence without a story, a laugh, some food, or a helping hand.

He was a hard worker, a provider, a storyteller, a fixer, a giver, a jokester, and, above all, a dad, grandpa, brother, & uncle who loved his family fiercely.

You always knew where you stood with Art. He had a big heart and a big personality—and while you definitely wanted to stay on his good side, those who knew him best wouldn't have wanted him any other way.

He was loved deeply, he will be missed beyond words, and he will never be forgotten.

Art is survived by his children, Shannon Green Bennett, Krista Green, Derrick Green (Celeste), Devin Morgan, and Jesse Green.

He leaves behind his grandchildren, Trayson Green (Kiley), Ryley Green (Ali), McKinley Wells, David Filiatrault, Josh Green, Pyper Green, Walker Green, Shayla Collins, Chelsea Bennett, Weilynn Lewis, Noah Bennett.

His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Greyson Green, Keegan Vanderbilt, and Bodie Bri Green.

He is also survived by his siblings, Eddie,JW, Etta Marie; many nieces and nephews, along with countless friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Ila Green; his brother, Wayne Green; his daughter, LeTawnya Filiatrault; and his granddaughter, KenzLeigh D'Lila.
