Arden Nephi Bunderson passed away peacefully at his home in Bloomington, Idaho, on July 4, 2014. He was born in St. Charles, Idaho, on October 27, 1919 to Nephi and Annie Floyd Bunderson. He faithfully served an LDS mission to the Arizona/California Mission. After returning from his mission he married Thelma Bateman (deceased) in 1944 and to this union was born two sons, Roy (Shannon), Max, and one daughter, Colleen (deceased). In 1955, he married Verdena Bateman and together they had five children: Ann (Paul) McCullough, Jon (deceased), Joy (Dennis) Nussbaum, Rex (Tania), and Gay (Jeff) Forsberg. Arden was an active member of the LDS church and served in multiple callings. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening, huckleberry picking, and spending time with his family. His garden in Bloomington was almost a landmark area.
He was a carpenter who devoted his entire life to constructing and re-modeling homes in the area and was also involved in the construction of most major industrial projects in Southeast Idaho. His life-long hobby was farming and he was renowned for his herd of purebred Saler cattle. After retirement, he took on an extended career with the Idaho State Parks Department which he enjoyed immensely and where he made a number of life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife (Thelma), daughter (Colleen), and son (Jon); his parents, three sisters (Hazel Monson, Eva Booth, and Vidella Booth), and four brothers (Lester, Lee, Mark, and Whitney). He is survived by a loving wife, Verdena, six children, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, one brother Lyman, and two sisters Afton (Doug) Farrow, and Marilyn (Marriner) Bingham.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Paris Idaho Stake Center with a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Schwab-Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, Idaho and at the church from 11:00 to 12:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.
