Marlene Humpherys Obituary

Marlene Nye Humpherys, a beloved wife, amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Marlene was an uncommonly strong, loving and kind woman. The last few years of her life were incredibly trying due to her battle with PSP disease. However, she gave it all her fight till the very end. She never let this grueling disease prevent her from doing the many things she loved to do, such as going to the beach, gardening, traveling, golfing, visiting with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed playing cards, laughing, gambling, snuggling and throwing the ball and for her great-grand fur-babies. The Lord called on her to become our sweet and precious Guardian Angel on September 21st, 2018.

Her life began on September 10th, 1939 in a small home in Paris, Idaho. She was one of 7 children with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Though they had the typical brother/sister relationship of teasing and fighting, they were still thick as thieves. They loved to ride their bikes and horses together and enjoyed many fair and rodeos as a family.

She met the love of her life, Ray Larry Humpherys and the two of them decided to "run off" and elope in Elko, Nevada on November 11th, 1962. In the 54 years they were married, they had 4 kids, 7 grandkids, and were lucky enough to travel and live all over the world. Any place with sandy beaches, blue water, seashells, and beautiful sunsets were her favorite place to be. When she wasn't traveling the world, she was traveling to see her grandkids play sports, watch them graduate, and eventually get married. Family was her everything.

Many laughs and forever memories were made on her last big adventure in June of this year when she was taken to San Diego, California with her daughter, son and three grandkids. She would have loved to be on this Earth longer, to see another sunset, put her toes in another ocean, give one more hug, one more smile, eat another bowl of rocky road ice cream, and to watch her kids and grandkids grow older, but God had other plans.

She was greeted by her parents, James & Lula May; her husband, Ray; her son, Curtis; her sisters, Helen, Donna, Verla, and Linda; her brother, Wayne; and a mass welcoming of four-legged friends, where undoubtedly a magical and loving reunion was happening.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her brother, Don Nye; her daughter, Tara Humpherys, grandkid Stephanie Smith-Humpherys; Grandkid Josh Humpherys (Holly) son of Curtis Humpherys; son, Allen Humpherys (Amy), grandkids Emily (Cameron), Kate and Curtis Humpherys; son Todd Humpherys, grandkids Tiffany and Cru Humpherys.

She always used to say, "Home again, home again, jiggity jog." She is home now, free of pain and in peace.

She was beyond loved and will be forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank Holli and Keeley for their compassion, friendship, love and skilled assistance. You are true earth angels and we love you.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 26th at the 3rd Ward LDS church in Montpelier, Idaho at 3:00 pm with a viewing from 2-3. Graveside services will be held at the Montpelier Cemetery where we will say our final goodbyes.
